Check Of These Never-Before-Seen Paintings By Kurt Cobain

A series of never-before-seen paintings, artwork, and notebook sketches by late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain have been placed on display until August 6th in Seattle. The artwork has been in storage since Cobain's suicide in 1994 and conveys his struggle with depression, heroin abuse, and self-image. The gallery also has features the cover of 1992's Incesticide.

The exhibit program states: “Cobain’s paintings, while not yet as well-known as his music, provide insight into the artist’s experience and present an important art historical narrative that together with his music legacy, tells a gritty story of youth culture in the 1990s.”

The head of UTA Fine Arts, Josh Roth, who represent Cobain's widow Courtney Love and his estate, commented: “Kurt Cobain was perhaps the most iconic musician of his generation, but his work as a visual artist is often overlooked. These paintings provide an opportunity to see him, and some of his contemporaries, in a new light.”
