30th Anniversary Of U2's Achtung Baby On The Way

U2 will mark the 30th anniversary of their seventh album, 1991's Achtung Baby, with a special standard and deluxe vinyl release this Friday, including the 2018 remaster and the Unter Remixes edition.

They will be followed by a 50-track digital box set on December 3rd that will include Uber Remixes, Unter Remixes, and B-Sides with 22 tracks that have never been released digitally.

The album was recorded over six months at Hansa Studio in Berlin and Windmill Lane in Dublin and yielded four singles -- "Mysterious Ways," "One," "Even Better Than the Real Thing," and "Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses."

To further celebrate the anniversary, U2 have collaborated with Berlin-based French artist Thierry Noir (the first artist to paint on the Berlin Wall) for a special one-off installation at Hansa Studios. In 1991, the band commissioned Noir to paint a series of Trabant German cars.

30 years later, Noir has painted another Trabant as well as an exclusive mural painted on a section of the Berlin Wall, which you can see at AchtungBaby30.de/.

The hood of the car will be auctioned at Phillips in London on December 9th with proceeds going to the Berlin Institute for Sound and Music.

Achtung Baby won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal.
