Ozzy Osbourne Says He's 'Not Retiring' After Farewell Tour

Ozzy Osbourne says he can't retire from performing, but he's about finished doing extensive touring.

The legendary heavy metal frontman says he enjoys performing too much to quit altogether, but after his upcoming No More Tours 2 jaunt, which begins in April, he won't be traveling the world with his band anymore.

"I'm not retiring," he told Rolling Stone after the tour dates were announced. "It's 'No More Tours,' so I'm just not doing world tours anymore. I'm still going to be doing gigs, but I'm not going on tour for six months at a time anymore. I'd like to spend some time at home. I've experienced fantastic things; it's been an incredible journey. I just need to slow down a little."

Ozzy and his wife/manager Sharon Osbourne have seven grandchildren, and at least one more on the way.

Ozzy says it's important to him to be a grandfather and not let "go through another generation of Osbournes without seeing them grow up."

No More Tours 2 will keep Ozzy busy through 2020, as he tours the world to say goodbye to his loyal fans.

The first No More Tours tour was in 1993. Ozzy claimed at the time he was retiring, but he returned to touring and recording by 1995.

Performing is in his blood, Ozzy said.

“It’s what I do. It's a passion for me. It's the greatest love affair I ever had, being in a rock band and playing for the people who come to the shows.”

While Ozzy has publicly waffled one whether or not he wants to make a new studio album, he indicated to Rolling Stone that he has a number of songs that are ready to record if he wants.

Ozzy retired Black Sabbath last March with his co-founding bandmates guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler.

The decision to end Black Sabbath was based largely on concerns surrounding Iommi's long-term health.

Last fall, when Ozzy was asked if he'll ever officially retire from performing, he replied, "Not until they put me in a pine box."
