1960 - 17-year-old George Harrison was deported from Germany for being too young to perform with The Beatles.
1974 - Mick Taylor revealed in a press release that he was departing The Rolling Stones after a five-year run, stating that he "felt it was the time to move on and do something new." He was on the studio albums , Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile On Main Street, Goats Head Soup, and It's Only Rock 'n' Roll. Said Keith Richards: "Mick Taylor and I worked really well together...He had some lovely energy. Sweetly sophisticated playing, way beyond his years. Lovely sense of melody. I never understood why he left the Stones. Nor does he, I think...I had no desire to see him go.
1983 - The Who issued a statement making their breakup official, a formality considering they called their last shows in 1982 their "Farewell Tour." 1993 - MTV aired Nirvana's 'Unplugged' session for the first time. The album featured an acoustic performance taped at Sony Music Studios in New York City on November 18, 1993. Unlike many artists who appeared on the show, Nirvana filmed its entire performance in a single take with the band's fourteen-song setlist included six cover versions.
1997 - Singer songwriter Nicolette Larson died aged 45 of complications arising from cerebral edema. Worked with Neil Young, (Comes a Time and Harvest Moon albums), Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Michael McDonald, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Buffett, The Beach Boys and The Doobie Brothers. Best known for her 1978 cover of Neil Young ‘Lotta Love’.
2007 - Singer/songwriter and member of the Colorado Music Hall Of Fame, Dan Fogelberg died at his home in Maine at the age of 56. While touring through Colorado in the mid-1970s, Fogelberg bought a house from Chris Hillman, situated 9,000 feet up in the Rocky Mountains. His time there resulted in the songs on Nether Lands, and he recorded part of his next venture, Phoenix, in Colorado. In the mid-1980s, Fogelberg built what would become his ultimate home and recording studio in the San Juan mountains near Pagosa Springs. After a weekend at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival sitting in with friends and bluegrass legends, Fogelberg recorded High Country Snows with some of his favorite acoustic pickers, and that album became one of the best-selling bluegrass albums of all time.
