David Crosby has fulfilled a longtime dream of working with Steely Dan's Donald Fagen with the recording of Fagen's "Rodriguez for a Night" on Croz's new album,For Free.
David says, “I’m so honored [Donald] gave us a set of words. I’ve been asking him for a couple of years. He started to trust us, I think. It took a long time, but he gave us a set of words that are really wonderful and we just wrote the [crap] out of them.”
Crosby, who says Steely Dan is his favorite band, wrote the music for the song with his son, bandmate and producer James Raymond, and it sounds a lot like Steely Dan.
For Free, Crosby’s fifth album since 2014, will be released on July 23rd.
