Happy 78th, Mick Jagger. Here's Some Things You Might Not Have Known

Set a record running the half mile in grade school. His father Joe Jagger said, "He was excellent at basketball and cricket, but he didn't want to be tied down to all of the practice."

He secretly paid for Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious's legal fees when Vicious was on trial or murder.

Although Jagger has made a number of minor film appearances over the years, one of the biggest roles he was ever rejected for was Alex in A Clockwork Orange. Casting directors did consider the Stones frontman, and Jagger’s fanbase tried to boost his chances by launching a petition. According to Jagger himself, he wanted to play Alex while the Stones would be the Droogs. He also wanted The Beatles to provide the soundtrack. He was also considered for but didn’t get, Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Salieri in Amadeus.

He doesn't shy away from diaper duty. In fact, he's quite good at it. "I've always changed nappies, for other people's children as well as my own," he said.

In addition to the health benefits of his busy touring schedule, Jagger follows a personal fitness regimen which includes jogging, kickboxing, yoga, and even ballet.

Jagger once bought an old English manor house in Hampshire for the modern equivalent of $1.3 million. Not unusual for a successful musician, right? Well, he was high on acid at the time. While in Jagger’s possession, it also served as a popular rest-stop and recording location for other rock bands. The Who, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Bob Marley all recorded at Stargroves before Jagger sold the property—at a profit, of course—in 1979.
