The auctioning off of personal items associated with the late Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, as well as one of his iconic guitars, is now underway online as part of what Julien's Auctions calls its Played, Worn & Torn: Rock 'n' Roll Guitars and Memorabilia event, the live portion of which starts tomorrow and ends on Saturday in Nashville, .
Cobain's blue left-handed Fender Mustang, also known as the Skystang I, is expected to fetch over a million dollars. The instrument was played at both Nirvana's last U.S. show in Seattle and last-ever show on March 1st, 1994, in Munich, Germany.
Another item that seems to be commanding big-time attention is an unopened pack of American Spirit cigarettes that Cobain bought while he was in rehab shortly before his death.
Kurt gave it to his roommate at the L.A. facility, who's put them up for bid. A curator for the event says he expects it to become "the most expensive pack of cigarettes ever." It will almost certainly go for over $2000.
A third Cobain item is the pair of blue jeans he wore in Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box" video.
