The Record Plant in Los Angeles, where the Eagles recorded Hotel California, Fleetwood Mac recorded Rumours, Nine Inch Nails worked on The Downward Spiral and Guns n' Roses made Appetite For Destruction, is shutting its doors after more than five decades.
Its the last of the studios using The Record Plant name to close -- the original in New York City ran from 1968 to 1987, while one in Sausalito, California was open from 1972 to 2008.
The Los Angeles outpost opened in 1969 and in its 55 years played host to the sessions for Eagles' On the Border, Lynyrd Skynyrd's Second Helping, parts of Boston's self-titled debut, Cheap Trick's Heaven Tonight and Dream Police, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Long After Dark, Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique and Hole's Celebrity Skin, plus multiple projects by Rod Stewart, KISS, Black Sabbath and Jefferson Starship.
