Speculation that Taylor Hawkins' son could be Foo's new drummer

Could the Foo Fighters be following the lead of Led ZeppelinPhil Collins and Cheap Trick by having one of their sons play drums?

In this case it would be Shane Hawkins, son of the late Taylor Hawkins, who is rumored to be next in line for the drum stool following the band parting ways with Josh Freese last month.

18-year-old Shane has been keeping the beat in his dad's side band, Chevy Metal, which will start a short tour on July 19th in Denver.

And last week, during a drum clinic in Newquay, England, he corrected a wrong, saying his dad's favorite song to play was "Low" and not “Aurora,” which has often been reported. He then performed it.

The Foos will return to the road in Jakarta on October 2nd, which would give Shane plenty of time to get up to speed if he is indeed being considered.

Other sons of drummers who filled their shoes in concert are Jason Bonham for the late John Bonham in Led Zeppelin, and Nic Collins for Phil, who can no longer play due to health ailments.

In Cheap Trick's case, guitarist Rick Nielsen's son Daxx took over for Bun E. Carlos when the band parted ways with him in 2010.
