John Mellencamp says he actually made his own bio-pic in 1992

While numerous artists have given approval for their life story -- or part of it -- to be made into a bio-pic, John Mellencamp apparently made his "before the word bio-pic existed."

In an Instagram post, he shares two scenes from the 1992 movie Falling From Grace, which he directed and starred in. Both clips are captioned with: "This in essence is John Mellencamp’s bio-pic."

The fictional drama, written by Larry McMurtry, tells the story of Bud Parks, a burned-out country singer who returns to his hometown in Indiana after a long stretch on the road. Bud and his wife Alice realize that the Parks family is having problems and soon find themselves tangled up in a web of lies and deceit threatening their own marriage."

Well, Mellencamp is a singer who does live in Indiana and who has been married three times.

If Mellencamp did go forward with an official bio-pic, it would make for a good story between his musical career, being a painter, and an activist.

Among the musicians who have been celebrated with a bio-pic are QueenElton JohnBob DylanBruce SpringsteenBrian WilsonRay CharlesElvis Presley and Johnny Cash.

Artists whose stories are currently being turned into bio-pics include The BeatlesHeart and KISS.
