Back in 2007, Blur/Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn teamed up with some famous friends and recorded an album called The Good, the Bad & The Queen. The London-centric album was well-received, but alas its member — Albarn, The Clash bassist Paul Simonon, The Verve guitarist Simon Tong and Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen — decided to go their separate ways upon its release.
That is, until now.
On Tuesday (October 23), The Good, The Bad & The Queen announced they're releasing their sophomore album, Merrie Land, 11 years after their debut. And as if that news wasn't exciting by itself, the supergroup also shared the upcoming album's title track.
In "Merrie Land" Damon Albarn sings in stream of consciousness as he mourns a post-Brexit Britain. The accompanying video shows a puppet-like character singing as black and white imagery flashes behind him, illustrating the song's lyrics.
Watch the "Merrie Land" video below.
Albarn just wrapped up a tour with Gorillaz and is gearing up to play a handful of UK shows with The Good, The Bad & The Queen in December, after Merrie Land's November 16th release. Check out a list of tour dates below.
