Weezer Perform During 'American Idol' Finale: Watch

Before American Idol crowned its Season 17 winner on Sunday (May 19), the show treated fans to a three-hour musical extravaganza that included performances from the three finalists (Laine Hardy, Madison VanDenburg and Alejandro Aranda), the judges (Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan), former Idol winner Carrie Underwood an runner up Adam Lambert (who now sings for Queen), as well as Kool & The Gang, Dan + Shay, Jon Pardi, Kane Brown, Daddy Yankee, Montell Jordan, and Weezer.

The alt-rock veterans played a medley of selections selections off their recently released covers project, Teal Album, beginning with the song that started it all: their cover of Toto's "Africa." The SoCal rockers were joined by Wade Cota, who was eliminated just a week prior. They then switched gears to their rendition of Tears For Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," before ending with A-Ha's "Take On Me," where they were joined by both Cota and Walker Burroughs, who had also recently been eliminated from the running.

Watch the charismatic medley below.

Sunday wasn't the first time Cota showed off his rocker roots. During the show's all-star duets week, he performed a dazzling rendition of "Broken" with lovelytheband.
