Just a few months ago Mark Hoppus and Alex Gaskarth gifted us with Strange Love, their debut EP as Simple Creatures, but it looks like that's not all the blink-182 and All Time Low frontmen had in store for us.
At the beginning of the month, the self-proclaimed Trash Pop duo teased new music with a pretty fantastic homage to the Muppets. The band wiped its Instagram feed clean (as is the current trend when embarking on a new career chapter) and began giving us hints of what to expect throughout the week by posting phrases like "I Just Wanna Feel Good," and "I Just Wanna Feel Special," along with the date June 13.
On Thursday, they revealed it was a new song, "Special," that they were teasing. And unsurprisingly, it's a bop. Mark and Alex swap turns taking the reins on lead vocals, converging on the chorus where they admit "I just wanna feel good/ I wanna feel special/ Dig down/ Underneath the pressure/ I wanna fake my pain away/ I wanna fake my pain away/ I just wanna feel good."
Though generally an upbeat, crunchy synth track, the duo does get a little soft and morose on the bridge, giving the song a nice dichotomy. Listen to "Special" below.
