Tom Petty would be 70 years old today and even though he gone, there's still tons of activity going on around his music.
Friday not only saw the deluxe reissue of Wildflowers by him as Wildflowers and All the Rest, but the release of individual lyric videos for all 25 songs on the two-CD or three-LP version of it. Plus, the new single, "Leave Virginia Alone," has charted at number-23 in its first week on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs chart.
According to an article inBillboard, Petty himself rejected including the song on the original Wildflowers, because he felt it was too close stylistically to a previous hit of his. The song ended up in the hands of Rod Stewart, whose single of it made the Top 10 on the Adult Contemporary chart and landed just outside the Top 50 on the Hot 100. Check it out!
