Former ballerina with Alzheimer's dances again after hearing "Swan Lake"

Music therapy can provide emotional support to people suffering from memory loss and favorite songs from the past can trigger responses from those with even more advanced cases of Alzheimer's. My mom suffered from Lewy Body Dementia and one day while living in memory care at an assisted living facility, she suddenly went to the piano and started playing a melody. She hadn't played in years! I was reminded of my mom when I saw the story about Marta Gonzales, a former ballerina with Azheimer's. A year ago someone played "Swan Lake" for Marta, and her reaction was one of the most beautiful things I have seen in a long time. Marta was a ballerina once again! (photo: Getty Images)
