Joni Mitchell was interviewed in the L.A. Times by film director and former music journalist Cameron Crowe about her album Blue, which turns 50 years old on Tuesday. She says that while it’s now considered a classic, it “came out of the chute with a whimper” and she was told -- especially by male singer-songwriters -- that she “had gone too far and was exposing too much” of herself.
