The Boss celebrates May 2nd and 3rd when he got first record deal 1972

May 2nd and 3rd are arguably the two most important dates in the life and career of Bruce Springsteen.

On May 2nd, 1972, he auditioned for Columbia A&R executive John Hammond at the label's New York City headquarters.

What was supposed to be a 15-minute audition turned into a two-hour performance and an invitation from Hammond to return the next day to cut demos.

So on May 3rd, 1972, Springsteen returned and recorded a 14-song solo acoustic demo.

The anniversary was not lost on Springsteen, as a photo of him and the then E Street Band was posted on his socials in commemoration.
