After doing a surprise concert last month, it seems like the Alabama Shakes reunion is going to bring fans some new music.
In an Instagram post the band shared photos of themselves in the studio with the caption, “Working on some exciting stuff!” Also pictured in the photos is producer-engineer Shawn Everett, who worked with the Shakes on their last album, 2015's Sound & Color.
This reunion is headed on the roa dthis summer, as Alabama Shakes have just been announced as one of the headliners at the Minnesota Yacht Club festival, which is July 18th through the 20th at Harriet island Regional Park in St. Paul.
And it seems that original drummer Steve Johnson is not involved at all. He was replaced by Ben Tanner behind the drum kit at their show last month and isn't in the new studio photos. Johnson pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges in 2020. He was also arrested on suspicion of child abuse in 2021 and charged, but the charges were later dropped.
