Dave Matthews can't do "Fire Aid " benefit - critical illness in his family

Dave Matthews has pulled out of Thursday's FireAid benefit and Friday's MusiCares Persons of the Year tribute to the Grateful Dead.

A note on the Dave Matthews Band Instagram says he can't perform "due to a critical illness in the family," but doesn't offer any more details.

Matthews was set to perform with John Mayer at Fire Aid, who will now do a solo set. The MusiCares Persons of the Year lineup includes Noah KahanThe War on DrugsVampire Weekend and My Morning Jacket.
