The Black Keys have Lana Del Rey to thank for some songs on the new LP

Dan Auerbach produced Del Rey's 2012 album Ultraviolence, which featured many songs she wrote with songwriter Rick Nowels. And even though Auerbach never met Nowels while making that album, hiwas the first name he thought of when he and Patrick Carney thought about opening up the songwriting process.

Besides Del Rey, Nowels has written songs for Stevie Nicks, Belinda CarlisleSantana and Madonna.

Carney tells American Songwriter that when they reached out to Nowels, he told them he was just about to make his first ever trip to Nashville and that within a day they had written the title track to No Rain, No Flowers.

Auerbach adds, "I knew we’d like it if we got in the room with the right people. It doesn’t always work, but when you get in the room with the right person and you have that connection, it’s where everything gets better -- they take what’s great about you and help you do things you wouldn’t necessarily think of."
