The Grateful Dead Movie will be shown in IMAX theaters starting 8/13

As part of The Grateful Dead's 60th anniversary celebrations, one of their concert films is returning to the big screen -- a very big screen.

1977's The Grateful Dead Movie will be shown in IMAX theaters starting on August 13th. The film and the soundtrack have been remastered for IMAX. It was directed by Jerry Garcia and has footage from the band's run at Winterland in San Francisco in October 1974.

Following each screening, there will be bonus performance of “China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider,” which was filmed during the same shows but not included in the official film release.

Tickets for the IMAX screenings go on sale June 26th at MeetUpatTheMovies.com.
