Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard is known for his love of running ultramarathons -- races longer that usually clock in around 50 miles or longer -- so doing a regular 26 mile, 385 yard marathon should be a piece of cake for him.
Gibbard announced that's running the New York City Marathon on November 2nd to raise money for Protect Our Winters, which he says is "a wonderful nonprofit run by athletes and outdoor enthusiasts that are trying to turn our love of the outdoors into real climate action."
Gibbard is asking fans to support his run by donating a dollar per mile through the organization's website. He adds, "For those of who are feeling even more generous and for those who can afford it, I’m offering a higher tier option of fundraising. For $10 per mile ($260), you can choose a song that I have to listen to while running the New York Marathon. When this is all said and done, we’ll publish this playlist so you can see what I listened to running the New York Marathon."
