U2 is honored with the  Woody Guthrie Prize from the Woody Guthrie Center,

Bono and The Edge were in Tulsa, Oklahoma Tuesday as U2 were honored with the Woody Guthrie Prize from the Woody Guthrie Center, which is located there.

In accepting the award, Bono said, "We have to consciously work against history, lest it repeat itself.”

The two also did a 45-minute acoustic set of “Running to Stand Still,” “Mothers of the Disappeared,” “Pride (In the Name of Love),” Woody Guthrie's “This Train Is Bound for Glory,” and “Sunday, Bloody Sunday.”

Previous honorees of the award, which is presented to an artist who embodies the late folk singer’s “social consciousness and musical legacy,” include Bruce SpringsteenJohn MellencampPete SeegerMavis StaplesKris KristoffersonNorman LearChuck DJoan Baez and Tom Morello.
