Brandi Carlile to sing "Blackhole Sun" at Rock Hall for Soundgarden

We now know the role Brandi Carlile will play at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on November 8th in Los Angeles.

She told Howard Stern she'll be singing "Black Hole Sun" in tribute to Soundgarden, who, it appears, will be inducted by actor Jim Carrey.

While Brandi adds that she would have preferred to do "Searching With My Good Eye Closed" off their third album, Badmotorfinger, she's no stranger to "Black Hole Sun," having done it at the Los Angeles tribute to Chris Cornell in 2019. And that only came about because Axl Rose, who was supposed to sing it, didn't show up.

Also performing with the surviving members of Soundgarden at the ceremony will be Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCreadyAlice in Chains singer-guitarist Jerry Cantrell, and The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen.

Chris Cornell died by suicide in 2017.
