2019 iHeartRadio ALTer EGO: The Most Epic Moments

2019 iHeartRadio ALTer EGO

Be right back, we're still recovering from the epicness that was iHeartRadio's 2019 ALTer EGO. This year's lineup included twenty one pilotsThe Killers, Muse, Weezer, Rise Against, the first-ever female headliner Bishop Briggs, and The Revivalists. The sold-out show on Saturday, January 19, marked the second annual ALTer EGO at The Forum in Los Angeles.

There were so many incredible moments throughout the show, from a surprise guest appearance from Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, to epic sing-alongs during The Killers set, to fiery cars, backflips and more during twenty one pilots, it was a night to remember.

Read on below to relive all of the iconic moments from 2019 iHeartRadio ALTer EGO.

MUSE LED A LITERAL "UPRISING" & CLOSED THE SHOW WITH AN EPIC SET

Between Matt Bellamy's gorgeous falsetto, the high energy of his bandmates, and the beautiful melodic nature of Muse's music, the performance was the perfect ending to an already awesome show. Muse started off their set with their song "Pressure," followed by "Psycho." But one of the highlights of their performance was during "Uprising." A fan favorite, there was a point during the song where Bellamy let everyone at The Forum sing in unison — a true uprising.

RISE AGAINST SURPRISED THE CROWD WITH TOM MORELLO

Rise Against rocked the stage with their soaring guitar riffs, but the band had a big surprise for fans towards the end of their set as they brought out Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello to help them perform his song "How Long." As Tim McIlrath sang, Morello continued to absolutely shred through the track with his guitar ... using his teeth to do so. Truly a rockstar moment.

TWENTY ONE PILOTS TORCHED A CAR ON STAGE

twenty one pilots kicked off their set with their single "Jumpsuit." In the pitch black arena, the band's Josh Dun walked out on stage carrying a torch. Then, Tyler Joseph appeared in a black ski mask with his guitar as a car went up in flames behind him. Throughout the song, the car fire raged on into the next song, with Joseph climbing on top of the car (still in flames).

BISHOP BRIGGS BROUGHT MAJOR GIRL POWER:

The 26-year-old singer, who released her debut album Church of Scars in April 2018, opened her set clad in a hot pink tracksuit with a gritty and raw rendition of 2016 track “The Way I Do” and didn't fail to deliver on following jams “Hallowed Ground,” “White Flag,” “Wild Horses,” "Baby" and of course breakout hit “River."

"I'm the woman on this lineup!" Briggs joyously celebrated mid-performance, reminding concertgoers she's the first-ever female to headline the annual show. "And I'm going to try not to cry ... there was the Women's March today and I just want to thank iHeart and 98.7 for representing female musicians so thank you."

WEEZER DELIVERED ON THE HIT CATALOG AND MORE:

Weezer hit the stage at iHeartRadio's ALTer EGO ahead of kicking off their 21-city spring 2019 tour with the Pixies and gave us a glimpse of what to expect on tour, including performances of new tracks “Can’t Knock The Hustle” and “Zombie Bastards,” off forthcoming album Invasion of Privacy, also known as The Black Album, which is expected to drop March 1.

Frontman Rivers Cuomo was joined by longtime bandmates Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell and Scott Shriner and also delivered an epic medley of hits ranging from 1994’s “Undone (the Sweater Song)" to current hit cover of Toto's "Africa."

RISE AGAINST DEDICATED "RE-EDUCATION (THRU LABOR)" TO TEACHERS AMID LA TEACHER STRIKE

Rise Against's Tim McIlrath dedicated "Re-Education (Thru Labor)" to all educators in the wake of the recent strike by Los Angeles teachers. McIlrath spoke of how teachers are so important as they help guide and shape young minds. He told the crowd in the arena, "To all the public school teachers, to all the educators, this song's for you."

THE REVIVALISTS GOT UP CLOSE WITH FANS

The Revivalists absolutely love their fans, and it shows. During their performance, the band played a five-song set, which included tracks like "Oh No," "Change," their smash hit "All My Friends," the very dance-worthy "You & I" and "Wish I Knew You." The band's lead singer, David Shaw, showed a lot of love to fans in the front row when he left the stage and went down to the front row to shake hands while performing. He basically serenaded this lucky group by the stage.

THE KILLERS KICK IT INTO HIGH GEAR

Fresh off the release of their new politically charged single “Land of the Free,” The Killers and frontman Brandon Flowers revved up the crowd, performing "The Man," "Mr. Brightside," "Somebody Told Me," "Human," "Space Man," "All These Things I've Done," "Read My Mind," and "When You Were Young."
