A popular candy sold in stores around the country has been recalled over the "life-threatening" risk it poses for consumers due to a labeling error.

Lipari Foods has issued a recall of its JLM branded "Dark Chocolate Nonpareils food treats" after it was determined it could contain milk that was not declared on the packaging, according to a recall notice shared June 20 by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This error means consumers with milk allergies or sensitivities have a higher risk of a "serious or life-threatening allergic reaction" if they eat the product.

The impacted product, sold in 14-ounce clear plastic tubs, was distributed to retail stores nationwide and include any of the following lot numbers, located on the bottom label: 28202501A, 29202501A, 23202504A, 14202505A, 15202505A and 03202506A.

As of June 20, there have been no reported reactions in connection with the recall. The affected product can be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund, while consumers with questions can contact the company at (586) 447-3500 ext. 9720.

This is the latest recall affecting consumers in Colorado. Last week, a popular food was recalled nationwide after it was determined it posed a severe risk to consumers' health.
