STEELY DAN: Doing it Again, Reissuing Their First 7 Albums

The seven albums Steely Dan released on ABC and MCA Records from 1972 through 1980 are being reissued.

With the band's Donald Fagen overseeing the reissue program, they will be available on 33 1/3 RPM 180-gram black vinyl, as a limited-edition premium 45 RPM version on Ultra High-Quality Vinyl, and Super Audio CD.

The first five albums are being remastered from the original analog tapes. However, the tapes for Aja and Gaucho will be mastered from an analog, non-EQ'd, tape copy as the original tapes containing the flat mixes were never delivered to the record label and it's presumed they no longer exist.

The first release is their debut album, 1972's Can't Buy a Thrill, on November 4th with the rest to follow next year.

The complete list of albums is:

  1. Can't Buy a Thrill (1972)
  2. Countdown to Ecstasy (1973)
  3. Pretzel Logic (1974)
  4. Katy Lied (1975)
  5. The Royal Scam (1976)
  6. Aja (1977)
  7. Gaucho (1980)
