John Lennon was gunned down 40 years ago today. Mark David Chapman shot him right after John signed an autograph for him. Chapman is still in jail.
I remember vividly finding out about Lennon's death. It was shocking and horrendous. I was working part-time at a radio station in Colorado Springs ---KYSN---My first on-air job! And I got to announce the Moment of Silence for John Lennon on the following Saturday morning . There was a large gathering at Central park in front of The Dakotas, where John and Yoko lived. That's where the Imagine Garden is now.
