Matt Shultz of Cage the Elephant addresses his arrest and treatment

Cage the Elephant will release their first album in five years, Neon Pill, on May 17th.

They've also announced a 45-date North American tour with Young the Giant and Bakar as the openers and it wraps up September 18th in Morrison, Colorado. Tickets go on sale March 8th.

Matt Shultz has opened up about his mental health issues after he was arrested in New York City in January 2023 and later pleaded guilty to three weapons possession charges. He wrote in an Instagram post, "It's a miracle that I'm here today. I was arrested last year and it undoubtedly save my life. After my arrest, I went to the hospital for two months of outpatient treatment....Over the last three years, I was unknowingly fighting my way through an utter mental health crisis. In a short time, I had slipped into psychosis due to an iatrogenic response to a medication I was prescribed. It took the love and support of my brothers in the band, my community, and, most of all, my wife Eva to get me through it."

He added, I'm humbled and grateful for the opportunity to write this message. I owe my life to God and the support system of friends, family, and Cage The Elephant."
