The 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards crowned the year’s best in film, television and podcasts on January 11th, with Hamnet winning Best Motion Picture – Drama and One Battle After Another taking Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
Hamnet star Jessie Buckley, who was named Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, thanked “every woman who’s ever been the quiet engine of a family story.”
Timothée Chalamet, who won the Globe for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy, thanked his co-stars, parents and girlfriend Kylie Jenner. "My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up. Always be grateful for what you have. It’s allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty-handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here. I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this moment that much sweeter. For my parents, for my partner, I love you. Thank you so much."
Director Paul Thomas Anderson, accepting for One Battle After Another, praised crews “who keep making movies the hard way.”
The Pitt, The Studio and Adolescence took top honors in the TV categories.
Host Nikki Glaser set the tone early with roast-style jabs at Hollywood reboots, streaming “content fatigue” and awards-season politics, earning the loudest laughs of the night for a riff about “cinematic universes that now require a syllabus.”
