Jack Johnson has announced that his documentary Surfilmusic and its soundtrack will both be out on May 15th.
The film covers Johnson's evolution from being a surfer to a filmmaker and musician. The soundtrack features a mix of previously released tracks from his catalog, some demos and pieces of the film's score done by Johnson and Hermanos Gutiérrez.
Johnson has also asked his fans to help with flood relief efforts for his home state of Hawaii. He and his wife Kim have directed their Johnson Ohana Foundation to donate $500,000 to support flood recovery, including a $250,000 donation through GoFundMe to help families directly.
Johnson posted a list of way fans can help out on his Instagram and writes, "Over the past few days we’ve been seeing how much support is needed across the North Shore and beyond, and we’re grateful to everyone who has been showing up for the community. Recovery is going to take time, and we want to keep finding ways to help families, farmers, and small businesses get back on their feet."
