Gorillaz---don't expect them to attempt to make an animated movie again!

Gorillaz co-founders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett say that they've got no interest in making a full length movie about the animated band after the first attempt collapsed.

Hewlett told Zane Lowe, “If we’d done a movie 25 years ago, fine… but the idea of doing a movie now? I have no interest in it whatsoever. No interest."

The only attempt at making a film came after a crazy offer from Netflix. He adds, "We were literally told ‘You can do whatever you want and we’re going to give you as much money [as you need]’, and we were like ‘OK great.'"

But Hewlett and Albarn began to lose interest in the project when it was taking so long to get off the ground.

“[Then] the guy we were working with just left, and [Netflix] said ‘Don’t worry, we’ll find someone else’. It was like ‘OK there’s going to be another year of conversations before this starts again’. So we pulled out.”

Albarn added that something good did come out off all that "hanging around for what seemed an eternity," and that was the duo went ahead and made 2023's Cracker Island
