Phil Collins is auctioning some memorabilia for a good cause.
He and his second of three ex-wives, Jill Tavelman, with who he has a daughter, actress Lily Collins, have donated items to The King’s Trust, which was founded by the Prince Charles in 1976 and then known as The Prince’s Trust.
A supporter for many years, Collins is parting with the outfit he wore onstage at Live Aid in 1985; the handwritten working lyrics for the Genesis hit “That’s All;” the pinstripe suit he wore on Miami Vice in 1985; plus clothing worn during photo shoots, music videos and onstage; autographed drums and more.
Commenting on the sale, he says, “I’m very proud to have been involved closely with The King’s Trust for over 40 years and I hope we can raise a lot of money for the cause.”
And Jill adds, “Phil and I realized we had a treasure trove of items spanning the years 1980 to 1995, and that this would be the ideal opportunity to share them with fans who will become the caretakers of Phil’s memorabilia while helping support such a worthwhile cause.”
Julien's Auctions will handle the sale, The King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Auction Featuring The Phil Collins Archive, on November 19th in London, five days after he's inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for his solo work. He was inducted as a member of Genesis in 2010.
