BOB DYLAN: Digs Deep for Debut at Tour Opener

Even at the age of 85, Bob Dylan still knows how to surprise fans.

Dylan launched his summer tour in Troutdale, Oregon Thursday night and about three-quarters through the show he played a song called “Baby Won’t You Be My Baby.” The song, which Dylan had never played live before, was recorded in 1967 as part of The Basement Tapes sessions with The Band and was finally released in 2014 on The Bootleg Series, Vol. 11: The Basement Tapes Raw

The 59 years between recording a song and playing it live is the longest gap in his career. The previous record holder was “Outlaw Blues” at 42 years. Dylan recorded that song in 1965 and didn't play it live until 2007.

Dylan's tour continues Saturday and Sunday with a two-night stand in Woodinville, Washington.
